Work placement based project in Hexham

App 70sq m floor space
Coffee Shop
''Bee in the butterfly''

This a live project for a private customer. The lady has a small coffee shop above a bakery in Hexham. She bought a place across the road where she would like to move it to and have some professional help for setting it up.  She hasn't got a budget and wants to keep some of her existing furniture and for the new cafe. She also travels a lot and has a great collection of memorabilia to incorporate within the decor. She would like to attract people from all age groups that will enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake in a welcoming and cosy shop.

The toilets are in a bad condition and run down, the walls need some colour and the panels as well. Nicky wanted some colour and character in there. She also wanted elegant interior that would be unique and interesting.

And there is my proposal...

The Forth, on site research

We went down to the pub to meet the managers to discuss their requests and ideas about the look of it take photographs of the site. There aren't going to be any structural changes. The budget for the internal part of the pub is £100 000 which is a good amount of money for changing the colour scheme, the lighting and part of the floors. That is how the pub currently looks.

The solid wood floors are in good condition, they would like to keep some of the furniture and create space  where the clients would have privacy and a welcoming feel of comfort. The main bar is listed and the only change to it could be .the colour. I quite like the way it is and wouldn't chage it the are around it either. This way there will be a mixture between the old and the new parts of the bar.

I am going to concentrate on this area of the pub I would like to have cool leather booths, fitting between five and   seven people. I am also going to design a new fireplace to lift the look of the room.

The Ladies toilets need attention. They are dated and without any character.
